What is it? Why is it worth seeing?
The Lycian Way is a long route in Turkey that runs along a part of the Mediterranean coast. It is made of Roman roads, old walking, and shepherd paths. Those roads connected the cities and villages of Lycia in ancient times. The Way is included in the TOP-10 of the most beautiful routes in Europe. And this is understandable. Pine forests, mountains with breathtaking views, picturesque beaches, and ruins of ancient cities will not leave anyone indifferent!
The route was developed in 1999 by the English traveler Kate Clow, who moved to Turkey just for this. In 2014, the Lycian Trail was extended by 30 km and is now 540 km long. It will take almost a month to complete the route, so tourists choose one or another section of the way. Most of the parts of the path are not hard. It is an out-of-category route.
The Lycian Way has at least two purposes. The first is to preserve the ancient paths because today more and more shepherd's paths turn into motorways. The sooner you visit the Lycian Way, the more chances you have to walk through the authentic masts, where the ancient Greeks and Romans walked.
The second is to save small Turkish villages that are slowly dying out. Thanks to the Lycian Way, hotels and guesthouses, restaurants, and cafes open there. Now residents can work, earn money in their native villages. And, of course, tourists will not be left without shelter and lunch. Our hotel is not an exception. Here you can always take a relaxing break: you can rest, have a delicious breakfast, or swim in the pool. And hit the road with renewed energy!
